I have been following Jylian's work for a while. Fibonacci series is my favorite, followed by the Mythology series. Finding so much of her work in a book is a great way to spend and afternoon or evening looking through her many series.If you enjoy this Artist , her book will meet your expectations. It will be a favorite in my Art book collection. I highly recommend this book.I hope Jylian will continue to bring beautiful art into this world for us to enjoy.
Good illustrations and naration
This book is a gorgeous retrospective of Jylian Gustlin’s work, covering her major figurative paintings and art based on mathematical concepts. The accompanying text explains major influences on Gustlin’s work, including the San Francisco Bay Area Figurative Movement, and explores her creative process through fascinating discussions of the themes in her paintings.The book is beautifully produced and would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s collection. It is a book to savor.
This book will go in my special bookcase of most treasured books. It is so well written, informative and inspirational. I was intrigued how math, in particular the Fibonacci sequence and Shell spirals influenced her work.Jylian’s figurines speak to my heart. I was so engaged in my interpretations of the figurines as each one seemed to take on a life of its own in my imagination.I can only hope that the artist keeps painting and gives us the gift of a second book.
